About the role#
This internship in Plaquemine, Louisiana, offers hands-on experience within an integrated chemical manufacturing environment. You will work on an empowered team to ensure safe production and operational reliability. This role requires you to operate equipment, troubleshoot process issues, and follow established plant procedures with minimal supervision.
What you'll do#
- Shadow and support experienced Operating Technicians in their daily duties.
- Follow Operating Discipline principles and procedures to maintain safety and efficiency.
- Make rounds with operators to take readings and field-check process equipment.
- Monitor process conditions, control systems, and equipment performance.
- Participate in troubleshooting unit upsets and abnormalities.
- Witness the work permit system and learn about Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) systems and emergency preparedness.
- Perform tasks under the direct supervision of an experienced operator.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- One of the following: 5 or more years of industrial experience as a skilled maintenance craftsman or loader, 3 or more years of relevant military experience, or current enrollment in/recent graduation from a Process Technology (PTEC) Associates degree program with at least a 2.7 GPA.
- Ability to work legally in the United States.
- Capability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 55 lbs, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
- Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators.
