About the role#
Dow is seeking engineering students for internship and alternating term co-op opportunities within our Operations and Manufacturing departments. These roles involve a range of responsibilities across various work settings, including plant safety, process optimization, maintenance, and technology implementation. You will work as part of a team to address real-world technical problems and support safe, efficient plant operations.
We offer two tracks:
- Internship Track: A single work term commitment of 12 to 14 weeks, available for any school term.
- Alternating Term Co-op (ATC) Track: A three-term commitment where you alternate between academic semesters and work terms. At least one work term must occur during the spring or fall.
What you'll do#
Depending on your engineering discipline, your responsibilities may include:
- Providing technical support to plant operating personnel.
- Troubleshooting manufacturing processes and solving technical problems.
- Managing projects and implementing new technology.
- Performing preventive maintenance and failure analysis.
- Improving yields, reducing waste, and enhancing safety.
- Designing equipment, vessels, and piping systems.
- Coordinating with design disciplines for capital projects, including structural steel and site development.
- Selecting effective materials for daily maintenance and facility design.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or Material Science/Metallurgical Engineering.
- Enrollment in an ABET accredited program.
- Ability to work legally in the United States without visa sponsorship.
- Commitment to relocate anywhere in the U.S. as needed.
- Rising college sophomores and juniors are preferred.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Leadership experience in extracurricular activities or on-campus organizations.
- Previous internship or co-op experience is a plus.
Location & details#
- Work Modality: On-site. You must provide your own reliable transportation, as manufacturing sites are not accessible via public transit.
- Locations: Positions are primarily located in Louisiana, Michigan, and Texas, with limited opportunities in other U.S. states including Alabama, California, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
- Duration: Each work term is 12 to 14 weeks.
- Requirements: Some facilities are designated as TWIC facilities, requiring adherence to specific credentialing standards.
