About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to work in an integrated process operating environment in Plaquemine or Grand Bayou, Louisiana. You will join an empowered team, taking responsibility for safely producing and ensuring operational reliability to meet plant goals. This role requires an independent contributor who can set priorities and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
What you'll do#
- Shadow and support Operating Technicians in daily plant activities.
- Follow established Operating Discipline principles and procedures.
- Conduct rounds with operators to take readings and field-check process equipment.
- Monitor process conditions, control systems, and equipment status.
- Participate in troubleshooting unit upsets and process abnormalities.
- Learn about Environmental, Health, and Safety systems, emergency preparedness, and the work permit system.
- Perform tasks under the direct supervision of an experienced operator.
- Demonstrate cooperative participation and a willingness to learn new technical skills.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to work legally in the United States. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available.
- Completion of at least one of the following requirements:
- 5 or more years of industrial experience as a skilled maintenance craftsman or truck, barge, or rail loader.
- Currently enrolled in the last semester of a Process Technology (PTEC) Associates degree program with at least a 2.7 cumulative GPA.
- Graduation within the last 2 years from a Process Technology (PTEC) program with at least a 2.7 cumulative GPA.
- 3 or more years of relevant military experience.
- Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 55 lbs, climbing stairs and ladders, working in confined spaces, and wearing required personal protective equipment.
