About the role#
This is a long-term, year-round cooperative education position based in Midland, Michigan. You will provide administrative, records, and operational support to paralegals, lawyers, and other legal professionals within the Dow Legal team, with a focus on Innovation Law activities. This role is designed for students who can balance professional work with their undergraduate studies, requiring a commitment of at least one full calendar year.
What you'll do#
- Manage shared mailbox communications, route client requests, and support follow-up.
- Prepare draft letters and documents using approved templates.
- Search for patent references and assist with patent-related administrative tasks.
- Maintain patent filing systems, electronic records, and documentation.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, including records storage, retrieval, scanning, and filing.
- Obtain signatures and prepare shipping documents or packages.
- Support day-to-day office operations, including phones, supplies, and printers.
- Assist with special projects and other legal or administrative tasks.
What you'll need#
- Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED.
- Currently enrolled as an undergraduate at an accredited college or university located near the Midland Dow site.
- Maintain a minimum of 6 credit hours per term during Fall and Winter terms.
- A GPA of 3.000 or higher is preferred.
- Ability to begin work within 3 weeks of an offer.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while following directions.
- Strong organization, prioritization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work.
- Ability to lift packages and boxes as needed.
