About the role#
As an R&D Sustaining Engineering Intern, you will focus on optimizing and sustaining commercial intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) products. These technologies are used in interventional cardiology to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease. You will gain experience in lifecycle management by supporting design improvements and supply continuity. You will work alongside professionals across various fields to support a culture of continuous improvement.
What you'll do#
- Assist in design change activities, including feasibility studies, test method development, and product testing.
- Support investigations into failure modes and perform root cause analyses to address technical challenges.
- Ensure all work complies with regulatory requirements and standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as project management, marketing, design assurance, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs.
- Prepare and review engineering documentation, including design change analysis, technical reports, design history files, and regulatory submissions.
- Present project updates and technical insights to engineers and managers.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's or graduate degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
- Graduation date between Fall 2027 and Spring 2028.
- Ability to commit to one of the following full-time program periods: May 17th - August 6th OR May 24th - August 13th.
- Experience collaborating on engineering projects in school or a professional environment.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.
- Aptitude or experience in biomedical or anatomy fields.
- Basic understanding of design controls and risk management in the medical device industry.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship based in Maple Grove, Minnesota.
- The role requires an on-site presence at the Arbor Lakes corporate location.
- You must have reliable transportation to and from the office.
- This position is deemed safety-sensitive and is subject to a prohibited substance test.
