About the role#
As a Data Engineering Intern, you will support clinical data management and the development of electro-mechanical medical device systems. You will work within the Interventional Cardiology Coronary Therapies team to help deliver devices to patients and clinicians. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Review, annotate, and prepare medical images for machine learning and classical algorithm development.
- Maintain the organization of medical images, annotations, and associated data.
- Build and validate tools for analyzing data sets and processing images.
- Write and run unit tests for your code.
- Support code refactoring and test code written by other team members.
- Collaborate with data scientists, cloud data engineers, and clinical engineers across global and local teams.
- Ensure all work complies with documented quality processes and procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and Spring 2029.
- Ability to commit to one of two program periods: May 17 to August 6 or May 24 to August 13.
- Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
- Previous internship or co-op experience.
- Experience with AWS, cloud technologies, and machine learning frameworks.
- Working knowledge of image processing.
- Proficiency in manipulating tabular metadata using SQL and Python’s Pandas library.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to work in the medical device industry.
Location & details#
- Location: Maple Grove, Minnesota.
- Modality: Hybrid, requiring at least four to five days per week in the local office.
- Transportation: You must have reliable transportation to and from the Maple Grove or Arbor Lakes office.
- Safety: This is a safety-sensitive position subject to prohibited substance testing.
