About the role#
You will own how TraceRoot talks to developers. Your work involves writing posts, managing launches, creating documentation, and producing demos. We want you to help more developers find, install, and use our tool. This is a writing-focused role for someone who likes software and can find the story in technical debugging. You will work in person at our San Francisco office at least 3 days a week. There is a potential path into a full-time Founding GTM role for those who demonstrate success.
What you'll do#
- Write technical deep dives, postmortems, and docs-as-marketing that include real traces and code.
- Run launches on platforms like Hacker News, Product Hunt, Reddit, and X, including managing community engagement.
- Own SEO and GEO strategies for comparison and problem-first pages to ensure we are cited by AI tools.
- Create demo clips, screenshots, and walkthroughs to showcase the product.
- Manage community engagement on Discord, host hackathons, and collaborate with developer influencers.
- Track and analyze performance metrics using PostHog to determine which initiatives drive installs.
What you'll need#
- A portfolio of writing that people read, such as a blog, newsletter, thread, or documentation.
- Technical curiosity and the ability to install TraceRoot, read a stack trace, and explain the outcome.
- A strong sense of taste regarding developer content and an understanding of what resonates in technical communities.
- A fast and prolific work style that prioritizes shipping multiple pieces to learn what works.
- A strong sense of ownership and a bias for action.
- Experience growing an open-source project, running a technical blog, or writing documentation.
- Familiarity with the developer community and experience using LLMs as a tool for research and drafting.

- Compensation: $4,000 to $6,000 per month.
