About the role#
As a Data Engineering Intern, you will support clinical data management and the development of complex electro-mechanical medical device systems within the Interventional Cardiology Coronary Therapies team. This role contributes to the development of medical devices intended to improve patient health. You will work in a hybrid capacity, requiring presence in the local office at least four to five days per week.
What you'll do#
- Review, annotate, and prepare medical images to support machine learning and classical algorithm development.
- Maintain the storage and organization of medical images, annotations, and associated information.
- Develop and support the validation of tools for analyzing data sets and processing medical images through commercial and exploratory algorithms.
- Write and run unit tests.
- Support code refactoring and test code written by others.
- Collaborate with data scientists, cloud data engineers, algorithm engineers, clinical engineers, software engineers, and systems engineers.
- Lead with integrity and maintain a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by following all documented processes.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Graduation date between December 2027 and Spring 2029.
- Ability to commit to one of the following internship periods: May 17th to August 6th OR May 24th to August 13th.
- Experience with AWS and cloud technologies, machine learning frameworks, image processing, and manipulating metadata using SQL and Python’s Pandas library.
- Previous internship or co-op experience.
- Effective communication skills for working with diverse, cross-functional teams.
- A desire to learn new technologies and work in a medical device company.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Maple Grove, Minnesota.
- Reliable transportation to and from the Maple Grove or Arbor Lakes Boston Scientific corporate location is required.
- This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
