About the role#
This is a summer position based in Sherwood Park, Alberta, running for 4 to 6 months during the summer of 2027. You will work on-site to support the development of new traits for local and global programs. Please note that you will be hired and employed through a third-party contracting agency, Raise Recruiting.
What you'll do#
- Manage field activities from seeding to harvest, including seed set up, land preparation, and plot maintenance.
- Perform pest control and pollination management.
- Supervise casual employees when required.
- Monitor compliance and maintain trial site isolation areas.
- Scout fields for prohibited species.
- Maintain sites using spraying, tilling, burning, hand roguing, and mowing.
- Ensure all standard operating procedures are followed.
What you'll need#
- Strong agronomic competence through a degree in Agriculture or a related college program.
- Previous experience in the Agriculture industry.
- Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to adapt plans as situations change.
- An interest in canola development.
- Ability to work toward both individual and team goals.
- Comfort with being on the road for extended periods, including driving on highway and grid roads.
