About the role#
This is a full-time internship for the Winter 2027 term at the Alcoa aluminum smelter in Baie-Comeau. You will work under the supervision of the technical section head and receive training to prepare for the industrial environment. The role is on-site, with a schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
What you'll do#
- Optimize process parameters for aluminum preparation and casting.
- Monitor the performance of production equipment.
- Develop and implement test plans for new equipment.
- Perform liquid metal sampling for quality analysis.
- Analyze the causes of process rejects.
- Provide technical support for various foundry operations and assist technical advisors with daily tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in chemical or metallurgical engineering.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and strong communication skills.
- Initiative and autonomy in your work.
Location & details#
- Location: Baie-Comeau, Quebec, Canada.
- Compensation: Between 29$ and 33$ per hour, depending on your year of study.
- Perks: All personal protective equipment is provided, and a housing allowance of 600$ may be available if you do not live in the region. Medical services are accessible on-site.
