About the role#
The Maintenance Engineer Co-Op/Intern will support operations and maintenance teams at the Esterhazy potash mine. This role focuses on improving equipment reliability, assisting with major engineering projects, and providing technical support to maintenance personnel. You will work alongside professionals to gain hands-on experience in an industrial mining environment.
What you'll do#
- Support operations and maintenance to improve equipment reliability.
- Lead and implement safety improvement projects.
- Provide technical support for equipment inspections and during mechanical failures.
- Define project scopes and assist in completing the management of change process for projects.
- Design, size, and validate new or modified equipment and piping.
- Update technical drawings and obtain equipment specifications from manuals and records.
- Communicate effectively with management, plant operators, engineers, tradespersons, and contractors.
- Participate in department and project-specific meetings.
What you'll need#
- Junior level standing or above by May 2027.
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Systems, Mechanical, Mining, Process, or Environmental Systems Engineering.
- Minimum GPA of 72%.
- 1-2 years of experience volunteering or working with student and school organizations.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work full-time in an industrial mining environment.
- Basic computer skills and experience working in a team environment.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 25 lbs, climbing stairs, working at heights, and wearing a respirator.
Location & details#
- Location: Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, Canada.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 10 to December 18, 2027).
- Work Modality: On-site, full-time (36-40 hours per week).
- Compensation: This is a paid internship position.
