About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Electrical Engineer Co-Op/Internship for the Winter 2027 term, running from January 11, 2027, to April 23, 2027. You will work on-site, typically 36-40 hours per week, supporting electrical engineering projects and operations. Housing and relocation assistance may be provided for qualified candidates.
What you'll do#
- Execute electrical power system reliability improvement projects.
- Participate in root cause failure analysis and implement corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot electrical power system issues, including power outages, electrical faults, and equipment failures.
- Perform software-based electrical power system modelling, including data collection, field verification, and model modifications.
- Analyze existing preventative maintenance plans and develop new implementation strategies.
- Work on electrical power system relay network expansion.
- Communicate with diverse personnel, including management, plant operators, engineers, tradespersons, and contractors.
- Attend department and project-specific meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, with third-year standing or above by January 2027.
- A minimum GPA of 2.7.
- Basic knowledge of electrical theory, including AC distribution and transformation, AC/DC motor control, and power, analog, or digital electronics.
- Experience with electrical power system modelling software is an asset.
- Ability to work in an industrial chemical and mining environment, including occasional outdoor work in varying temperatures.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license for travel between sites.
- Basic computer skills and experience working in a team environment.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 25 lbs, climbing stairs, working at heights, and wearing a respirator.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available for this role.
