About the role#
Teck Alaska Incorporated is hiring an Electrical Engineering Shareholder Intern at the Red Dog Operations site. You will report to the Senior Electrical Engineer and gain hands-on experience in one of the largest zinc mines in the world. This role is open to NANA Regional Corporation Shareholders currently pursuing an engineering degree.
What you'll do#
- Update as-built documentation for existing infrastructure, including field verification of equipment and revising drawings, manuals, and parts lists.
- Support project scoping by determining operating requirements, performing time and motion studies, and conducting material take-offs.
- Assist with maintenance planning, such as defining repair specifications, sourcing parts, and troubleshooting.
- Perform design tasks for maintenance work orders and plant upgrades, including drafting, sourcing components, and conducting design calculations.
- Execute a small design project from concept to implementation under the guidance of a senior engineer, which may support your undergraduate thesis.
What you'll need#
- Must be a NANA Regional Corporation Shareholder.
- Completion of 1-3 years of university education in an accredited engineering school.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in a mining or heavy industrial environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with condition monitoring equipment, design, and CAD software like AutoCAD is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Red Dog, Alaska.
- Schedule: This is a full-time, on-site, paid position featuring a 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off rotational schedule.
- Travel: Paid fly-in and fly-out travel is provided, along with on-site meals and accommodations.
