About the role#
The Platform Developer Co-op supports the Data and Analytics Platform team within Teck Digital Systems. You will help build and enhance technology platforms that enable software development teams to deploy, secure, and operate applications more efficiently. Working alongside developers, product managers, and cloud architects, you will contribute to a modern Azure and Kubernetes-based platform. This role provides hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies, DevOps practices, and infrastructure automation.
What you'll do#
- Act as a safety leader by adhering to and sponsoring environmental and safety policies.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Data and Analytics Platform.
- Design, build, and maintain services that improve developer productivity.
- Develop software and automation using modern programming languages and cloud-native technologies.
- Assist in creating self-service capabilities for infrastructure provisioning and application deployment.
- Contribute to Kubernetes-based platform components and supporting tooling.
- Support the maintenance of CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows.
- Build integrations between Azure services, developer platforms, and enterprise systems.
- Develop APIs, templates, and reusable components to promote engineering consistency.
- Participate in platform testing, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver platform capabilities.
- Analyze platform metrics to improve reliability and usability.
- Create technical documentation, onboarding guides, and enablement materials.
- Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree or diploma program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Experience developing software through academic, personal, open-source, or co-op projects.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, or Java.
- Understanding of software development fundamentals like version control, testing, and debugging.
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative development practices.
- Interest in cloud computing, platform engineering, and developer experience.
- Exposure to Kubernetes, cloud platforms, or Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and take ownership of technical challenges.

- Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
- Term: Winter 2027 (8 months).
- Start Date: January 4, 2027.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Employment Type: Full time.
- Compensation: CAD $4,108 to $5,183 per month.
- Additional Support: Financial assistance for travel costs and co-op fees is provided.
