About the role#
Teck Alaska Incorporated is hiring a Business Improvement Shareholder Intern at the Red Dog Operations site. This role reports to the Lead of Business Improvement & Intelligence. You will join a team focused on identifying and implementing improvements at one of the world's largest zinc concentrate producers. This internship offers hands-on experience in a mining environment while supporting our commitment to safety and community engagement.
What you'll do#
- Work with the Business Improvement & Intelligence team and site operations to execute improvement initiatives.
- Identify operational problems and develop solutions to address them.
- Perform valuation, field, and time studies to support project goals.
- Sustain the value of implemented solutions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- You must be a NANA Regional Corporation Shareholder.
- Current enrollment in an accredited university pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Math, or Science.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment across all levels of the business.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- A desire to learn and apply continuous improvement principles.
- Previous experience or exposure to continuous improvement is preferred but not required.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, temporary, on-site position located at Red Dog, Alaska.
- The role operates on a four-weeks on, two-weeks off rotational schedule.
- We provide paid fly-in, fly-out travel, along with on-site accommodations and meals.
