About the role#
The Business Analyst Co-op supports Solution Owners within Teck Digital Systems. You will contribute to the development and adoption of digital platforms that enable technology teams and business users. This role involves working with two strategic platform teams: a Developer Platform and DevOps team focused on software delivery and cloud infrastructure, and a Data Ingestion Platform team focused on enterprise data management. You will gain hands-on experience in product management, business analysis, and stakeholder engagement while working with modern cloud technologies.
What you'll do#
- Support Product Managers in planning, coordinating, and tracking platform initiatives and roadmap activities.
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements, user needs, and process workflows.
- Assist with product discovery, including stakeholder interviews, workshops, and requirements elicitation.
- Analyze usage, operational, and business data to identify trends and improvement recommendations.
- Create and maintain documentation such as process maps, user stories, requirements, and knowledge articles.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, software engineers, platform engineers, data engineers, and architects.
- Support backlog management, including refining user stories and tracking action items.
- Participate in testing, validation, and user acceptance activities.
- Help measure and report on platform adoption, usage metrics, and business outcomes.
- Develop presentations, dashboards, and communications materials.
- Adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Participate in mentorship, coaching sessions, and training to build skills in business analysis and product management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree or diploma program in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, work independently, and manage multiple priorities.
- Interest in product management, digital platforms, and how technology enables business outcomes.
- Curiosity about cloud computing, DevOps, platform engineering, software development, and enterprise architecture.
- Familiarity with business analysis concepts such as requirements gathering, process mapping, or user story development.
- Exposure to Agile delivery practices, Scrum, Kanban, or software development lifecycles.
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Exposure to Power BI, Azure DevOps, Jira, or Confluence.
- Interest in the mining industry and how digital systems support operational excellence.
