About the role#
The Artificial Intelligence Co-Op/Intern will support the AI team at The Mosaic Company by building and scaling AI, machine learning, and generative AI solutions. This role focuses on rapid prototyping and iterative development. You will work alongside data scientists and engineers to move concepts into production environments. This is a full-time position for the Winter 2027 term, running from January 11th to April 23rd, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Develop and evaluate machine learning models, LLM-powered applications, or agentic AI workflows for specific business problems.
- Build and document reproducible datasets, training pipelines, and evaluation harnesses.
- Define cleaning, feature engineering, and validation processes to ensure scalability.
- Create final project packages including summaries, visuals, code, and documentation.
- Present insights, risks, and recommended next steps to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to scope problems and ship solutions.
- Participate in department meetings and project-specific assignments.
What you'll need#
- Junior level or above as of January 2027, pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Engineering.
- Minimum 2.75 GPA.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- Ability to break down ambiguous business problems into structured, testable AI approaches.
- Experience with Git and Jupyter notebooks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work full-time (36-40 hours per week) while maintaining student status.
- Successful completion of post-offer screening, including drug and alcohol testing, background check, and physical examination.
