About the role#
This Artificial Intelligence Co-Op/Intern position supports the AI team at The Mosaic Company in building and scaling AI, machine learning, and Generative AI solutions. You will participate in rapid prototyping and iterative development while collaborating with data scientists and engineers to move ideas into production. This is a full-time, paid opportunity for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Develop and evaluate machine learning models, LLM-powered applications, or agentic AI workflows.
- Build and document reproducible datasets, training pipelines, and evaluation harnesses.
- Define processes for data cleaning, feature engineering, prompt evaluation, and model validation.
- Partner with product managers and business stakeholders to scope problems and ship solutions.
- Document your methodology, assumptions, and project trade-offs.
- Deliver a final project package including summaries, visuals, code, model cards, and runbooks.
- Present key insights, limitations, and recommended next steps to technical and business teams.
- Participate in department and project-specific meetings.
What you'll need#
- Junior level or above by May 2027, pursuing an undergraduate, master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer/Software Engineering.
- A minimum 2.75 GPA.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- Comfort using Git and Jupyter notebooks.
- Coursework, projects, or hands-on experience with machine learning, deep learning, NLP, or applied statistics.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work full-time during the internship term.
- Previous internship or co-op experience and 1-2 years of involvement in student organizations or work environments are preferred.
- Exposure to Generative AI, LLMs, and cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 25 lbs and working at various heights.

- Location: Lithia, Florida (FishHawk site).
- Term: May 10, 2027, to August 20, 2027.
- Modality: On-site and hybrid options available.
- Employment: Full-time (36-40 hours per week).
- Requirements: Candidates must successfully complete a post-offer drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, and functional capacity examination.
