About the role#
As a Process Control Engineer Co-op or Intern, you will work at the K1 or K2 milling sites in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. This full-time role provides hands-on experience in an industrial mining environment. You will support process control and engineering improvement projects while learning fundamentals from site experts. The term begins in May 2027 and lasts up to 8 months. You will work 36 to 40 hours per week in an on-site capacity.
What you'll do#
- Perform a mix of fieldwork, data analysis, report writing, and database maintenance.
- Complete projects aimed at reducing operational variability and improving recovery metrics.
- Work with operations and engineering teams to identify areas for improvement and propose solutions.
- Support circuit optimization through field checks, KPI tracking, and performance monitoring.
- Contribute to system validation for new projects.
- Develop and implement online production monitoring dashboards using the PI visualization tool.
- Participate in site safety initiatives, including behavior-based safety programs and near-miss reporting.
- Communicate with personnel across the organization, including plant operators, tradespersons, and management.
- Attend department and project assignment meetings.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.
- Ability to function effectively in an industrial chemical and mining environment.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn new engineering skills.
- Experience working in a team environment and effective verbal communication skills.
- Ability to safely perform essential job functions, including lifting up to 25 lbs, climbing stairs, working at heights, and wearing a respirator.
- Ability to distinguish specific colors, patterns, or materials.
- Ability to read, write, and understand basic English.
- Must be authorized to work in Canada.
- Successful completion of a post-offer drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, and functional capacity examination.
