About the role#
The Electrical Engineer/Technologist Co-op Student supports critical power and infrastructure systems at the Mosaic Potash Esterhazy mine. This position provides exposure to daily operations and large-scale capital projects, allowing students to build technical expertise while contributing to safety and system reliability.
What you'll do#
- Perform electrical drawing redlines and field audits for power, communication, network, and control systems to ensure documentation accuracy.
- Assist with and lead switching sequences and lockout procedures during maintenance shutdowns, outages, and major electrical preventative maintenance activities.
- Support major electrical projects, including hoist and MCC upgrades, underground grid expansions, substation replacements, and power demand and protection studies.
- Communicate with various levels of personnel, including management, plant operators, engineers, tradespersons, and contractors.
- Participate in department meetings and project-specific meetings.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and entering the third year or above by May 2027, or completed the first year of an Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology Diploma.
- 1-2 years of experience volunteering or working with student or school organizations.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license for travel between sites.
- Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, such as climbing stairs, working at heights, lifting up to 25 lbs, and wearing a respirator, while working in an environment with varying temperatures.
Location & details#
- Location: Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, Canada.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 10, 2027, to December 18, 2027).
- Modality: On-site, full-time (36-40 hours per week) on a 9/80 schedule.
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
