About the role#
The Electrical Engineer/Technologist Co-op Student supports critical power and infrastructure systems at the Mosaic Potash Esterhazy mine. This position provides exposure to daily operations and large-scale capital projects, allowing students to build technical expertise while contributing to system reliability, safety, and long-term electrical planning.
What you'll do#
- Perform electrical drawing redlines and field audits for power, communication, network, and control systems to ensure documentation accuracy.
- Assist with and lead switching sequences and lockout procedures during maintenance shutdowns, outages, and major electrical preventative maintenance activities.
- Support major electrical projects, including hoist and MCC upgrades, underground grid expansions, substation replacements, and long-term power demand and protection studies.
- Communicate with various levels of personnel throughout the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers, tradespersons, and contractors.
- Participate in department meetings and meetings specific to project assignments.
What you'll need#
- Entering third year level or above by May 2027 pursuing a bachelor's in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or completion of the first year of an Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology Diploma.
- 1-2 years of experience volunteering or working with student/school organizations.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Basic computer skills.
- Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable.
- Ability to work in an industrial, chemical, and mining environment, including occasional outdoor work with exposure to varying temperatures.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 25 lbs, climbing stairs, working at heights, and wearing a respirator.
