About the role#
As an Environmental Intern at the Aluminerie de Bécancour, you will work under the supervision of the environmental specialist. This role focuses on supporting our environmental team across air, water, and waste management domains while gaining experience in an industrial setting. You will be fully integrated into our teams and participate in various projects throughout the winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to process improvements by analyzing and optimizing production parameters.
- Optimize operational procedures and performance indicators.
- Participate in the intersectoral committee for emission reduction and track progress on action plans.
- Assist engineers and process technicians with raw material supply logistics.
- Support the environmental coordinator in drafting and automating reports for government ministries.
- Improve tracking tools for technician tasks.
- Optimize equipment performance and water effluent monitoring methods.
- Conduct internal audits based on corporate standards and track corrective actions.
- Finalize and deploy a tracking system for tank inspections according to Alcoa standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an engineering program, specifically Chemical Engineering or an environmental-focused engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated interest in environmental issues and sustainable development.
- Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.
- Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
- Strong computer skills.
- A client-focused approach that prioritizes understanding specific needs.
Location & details#
- Location: Bécancour, Quebec, Canada.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 11 to April 30).
- Modality: Full-time, on-site, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Compensation: Paid position ($28 to $32 per hour).
