About the role#
Elk Valley Resources is hiring a Projects/Civil Engineering Co-op for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Sparwood, British Columbia. You will work within our Coal Division, gaining hands-on experience in mining operations while receiving mentorship from experienced specialists.
What you'll do#
- Follow and support all health and safety programs.
- Work with the engineering team and operations on process development, quality assurance, and troubleshooting.
- Assist the Project Management team with vendor proposals, project framework documents, scheduling, cost control, construction execution, and commissioning.
- Help prepare and deliver environmental awareness materials to staff.
- Develop and test new ideas and technologies to improve business operations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate degree program for Civil, Projects, Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Materials Engineering.
- Ability to work in an industrial environment with diverse technical and operational teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- A self-starter mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Solidworks is an asset.
