About the role#
Elk Valley Resources is hiring a Geotechnical or Geological Engineering student for a co-op term starting in January 2027. This full-time position is based on-site in Elkford, British Columbia, for a duration of 8 or 12 months. You will work with the Technical Services team to support geotechnical design, monitoring, and hazard management for our mining operations.
What you'll do#
- Perform geotechnical assessments for pit slope excavations and waste rock dumps.
- Conduct mapping and sampling activities in various weather conditions.
- Assist with quarterly geological model updates and reconciliations.
- Support geotechnical monitoring and analysis, including interpreting ground movement and piezometric data.
- Perform stability and rockfall analyses for pit slopes and natural slopes.
- Participate in health and safety programs.
- Work with consultants and senior engineers on design projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program for Geological or Geotechnical Engineering.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent without learner's restrictions.
- Ability to operate vehicles on-site across different terrain and weather conditions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
