About the role#
This is a full-time, paid co-op position based in Calgary, Alberta, starting in May 2027. You will join the Coal Division to support our Sustainable Development and Environmental departments. The role requires on-site attendance for an 8 or 12-month term.
What you'll do#
- Support environmental and development teams with GIS data acquisition, input, mapping, and analysis.
- Build web maps and field collection tools using Esri Enterprise Portal, Field Maps, and Survey123.
- Create high-end cartographic products to meet operational needs.
- Perform GIS analysis and automation tasks using ArcGIS Pro.
- Maintain site-wide GIS systems and assist with contractor support.
- Participate in health and safety programs to ensure a safe work environment.
- Evaluate new technologies and ideas to improve business processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree related to GIS, Environmental Sciences, Data Analysis, Geography, Geomatics, or Natural Resource Science.
- Proficiency in Esri software including ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise Portal, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps, and Survey123.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex GIS concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Experience in a technical environment is an asset, as is familiarity with FME, AutoCAD, Python, Arcade, or SQL.
