About the role#
Elk Valley Resources is hiring a Mining Engineering Co-op student for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Sparwood, British Columbia. You will receive financial assistance for travel expenses and co-op fees, as well as mentorship from specialists in the field.
What you'll do#
- Follow all health and safety programs and policies.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop daily, weekly, and monthly mine plans.
- Work on mine planning and design tasks, including pit and dump design, production scheduling, and optimization for both autonomous and traditional fleets.
- Support drilling, blasting, and surveying activities.
- Provide technical services to mine production and other site departments.
- Monitor and analyze operating areas and assist with geotechnical evaluations of mine plans.
- Track and report on mine permit compliance.
- Perform productivity analyses and economic evaluations, and assist with capital expenditure documentation.
- Develop and test new ideas to improve business operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Mining or Mineral Resource Engineering.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License, or equivalent, without learner's restrictions.
- Ability to drive company vehicles in various terrain and weather conditions.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas to various audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Comfort working in an industrial environment alongside technical and operational personnel.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Salary: $4,867 to $6,167 CAD per month, based on completed academic semesters and previous co-op experience.
