About the role#
The Mechanical Integrity Engineer Co-Op/Intern will focus on projects related to plant stationary assets. You will assist in assessing and documenting the condition of existing equipment while gaining experience in an industrial mining environment. This is a full-time, on-site position for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Investigate equipment failures to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
- Inspect the condition of structures, bins, piping, and tanks, including design assessments using computer modeling or hand calculations.
- Troubleshoot issues using problem-solving techniques such as root cause analysis and the 5 Why method.
- Evaluate equipment performance against design specifications and validate new or modified equipment designs.
- Identify deficiencies in maintenance processes to develop sustainable improvements.
- Mine historical data and drawings to support asset integrity decisions.
- Communicate project status and findings to various levels of personnel, including management, plant operators, engineers, and contractors.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Systems Engineering (third year or above by May 2027).
- A minimum GPA of 72%.
- 1-2 years of experience through volunteering, student organizations, or previous work.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work full time in an industrial chemical and mining environment, including occasional outdoor work in varying temperatures.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 25 lbs, climbing stairs, working at heights, and wearing a respirator.
- Basic computer skills and experience working in a team environment.
Location & details#
- Locations: Esterhazy, Colonsay, and Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 10, 2027, to August 20, 2027).
- Modality: On-site, full-time (36-40 hours per week).
- Note: Candidates must be authorized to work in Canada and successfully complete pre-placement screening, including a drug and alcohol test, background check, and physical examination.
