About the role#
The Mechanical Integrity Engineer Co-Op/Intern will focus on projects aimed at improving plant stationary assets. You will assess and document the condition of existing equipment and structures while working alongside industry professionals. This is a full-time, on-site role for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Investigate equipment failures to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
- Inspect the condition of structures, bins, piping, and tanks, potentially utilizing computer modeling or hand calculations for design assessments.
- Troubleshoot issues using problem-solving techniques such as root cause analysis, 8-step, or 5-Why methods.
- Evaluate equipment performance against design specifications and validate modifications to existing systems.
- Mine historical data and design drawings to support asset integrity decisions.
- Identify deficiencies in maintenance processes and develop sustainable improvements.
- Communicate project status and findings to various personnel, including management, plant operators, engineers, and tradespersons.
- Participate in department and project-specific meetings.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial Systems Engineering (third year or above by May 2027).
- A minimum GPA of 72%.
- 1-2 years of experience through volunteering, student organizations, or previous internships.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work full time in an industrial mining and chemical environment.
- Basic computer skills and experience working in a team setting.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including working at heights, lifting up to 25 lbs, and wearing a respirator.
- Must be authorized to work in Canada.
- Successful completion of pre-placement screenings, including background checks and physical examinations, is required.

- Locations: Esterhazy, Colonsay, and Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan, Canada.
- Term: May 10, 2027, to August 20, 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, typically 36-40 hours per week, with potential for rotating shifts and overtime.
