Electrical Engineer Co-Op/Intern - Summer 2027

About the role#

The Electrical Engineer Co-Op/Intern position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in an industrial mining environment. During this full-time summer assignment, you will work alongside engineering professionals on projects related to power system reliability, maintenance, and system modeling. This role is based in Bartow, Florida, with occasional travel to other sites as needed.

What you'll do#

• Execute electrical power system reliability improvement projects.
• Perform root cause failure analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot electrical power system issues, including equipment failures and electrical faults.
• Conduct software-based electrical power system modeling, including data collection and field verification.
• Analyze existing electrical preventative maintenance plans and develop new implementation strategies.
• Collaborate with plant operators, engineers, tradespersons, and contractors across the organization.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, with third-year standing or above by May 2027.
• Minimum 2.7 GPA.
• Foundational knowledge of electrical theory, including AC distribution, transformation, AC/DC motor control, and power, analog, or digital electronics.
• Ability to work in an industrial chemical and mining environment, including occasional outdoor work in varying temperatures.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
• Basic computer skills and experience working in a team environment.
• 1-2 years of experience through volunteering, student organizations, or previous work is preferred.
• Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 25 lbs, climbing stairs, and wearing a respirator.

• Locations: Bartow and Tampa, Florida.
• Term: May 10, 2027, to August 20, 2027.
• Modality: On-site, full-time (36-40 hours per week).
• Compensation: This is a paid position.
• Requirements: Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Selection is contingent upon successfully completing a drug and alcohol screening, background check, and physical examination.
