About the role#
As an Operations Engineering Co-op or Intern, you will provide technical support to plant operations groups at our Riverview facility. You will work alongside professional engineers to troubleshoot systems and optimize production processes. This is a full-time, paid position for the Winter 2027 term, running from January 11 to April 23, 2027. You will typically work 36 to 40 hours per week on-site.
What you'll do#
- Identify and resolve root causes of issues in sulfuric processing and production systems.
- Improve the efficiency of converter systems, water treatment, and sulfuric acid plant systems.
- Evaluate and enhance the performance of unit operations in the Sulfuric Acid department.
- Observe work during turnaround outages and participate in equipment inspections.
- Develop and implement digital tools for operations.
- Communicate with personnel across the organization, including management, plant operators, engineers, maintenance staff, and contractors.
- Participate in department and project-specific meetings.
What you'll need#
- Junior level standing or higher by January 2027, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- A GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Basic computer skills.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- 1-2 years of experience volunteering, working with student organizations, or previous work experience is preferred.
- Previous internship or co-op experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with an industrial environment is highly desirable.
Location & details#
- Location: Riverview, Florida.
- This position is on-site. The work environment is occasionally outdoors with exposure to varying temperatures.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, climb stairs, work at various heights, and wear a respirator.
- Selected candidates must complete a pre-placement drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, and functional capacity examination.
