About the role#
The Tax Accounting Co-Op/Intern will work within the tax department to gain experience in tax and transformation projects. This role provides exposure to various areas of tax accounting, ongoing performance feedback, and the opportunity to work with a global leader in the mining industry. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the preparation of federal, state, and international income tax returns and supporting workpapers.
- Support quarterly tax provision calculations, including ASC 740 and book-to-tax differences.
- Prepare and analyze tax data to support compliance and financial reporting.
- Assist in responding to tax notices and audit information requests.
- Utilize digital tools to improve data accuracy, consistency, and reporting efficiency.
- Communicate with personnel across the organization, including management, engineers, and plant operators.
- Participate in department meetings and project-specific assignments.
What you'll need#
- Junior level or above by May 2027 pursuing a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or IT.
- Minimum 2.75 GPA.
- Foundational knowledge of taxation and accounting principles.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, Power BI, and reporting tools is preferred.
- Ability to work full time while maintaining student status.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Experience in a team environment and effective verbal communication skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Selected candidates must successfully complete pre-placement screenings including a background check, drug and alcohol screening, and a functional capacity examination.
