About the role#
The Brennan Center for Justice is seeking an undergraduate student to provide operational support to the Special Projects and Office Manager. This is an on-site internship based in our New York City office for the Spring 2027 term. You will assist with daily administrative tasks while gaining exposure to our work in law and policy.
What you'll do#
- Handle general administrative and clerical tasks including filing, photocopying, and mailing.
- Manage office communications by answering phones and drafting routine correspondence.
- Coordinate meetings and cover the reception desk.
- Provide support for events as needed.
- Attend and observe substantive meetings and conversations regarding our program work.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate student.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Clear communication skills for speaking on the phone and greeting visitors.
- Ability to lift over 25lbs.
- A positive, resourceful, and punctual attitude with a sense of humor.
- A demonstrated interest in the issues addressed by the Brennan Center.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Spring 2027.
- Commitment: Approximately 10 to 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: $18.40 per hour, subject to school policies regarding internship credit.
