About the role#
The Brennan Center for Justice is seeking undergraduate interns for our Democracy program in New York City. This is a paid, on-site internship for the Spring 2027 semester. You will support our work on voting rights, elections, government reform, the judiciary, and redistricting.
What you'll do#
Interns provide a mix of research, administrative, and clerical support. Your daily tasks include filing, answering phones, coordinating meetings, drafting routine correspondence, and covering the reception desk. You will also have the chance to attend and observe substantive meetings and events.
Specific project work includes:
- Providing support for litigation.
- Assisting with research and the rollout of reports.
- Aiding program advocacy efforts in democracy-related projects.
What you'll need#
We look for independent self-starters who are detail-oriented, energetic, and organized. You should have strong research, writing, and analytical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and experience working with data is helpful. We value candidates who are open to evolving responsibilities and bring a genuine interest in our issues.

- Location: New York, New York.
- Term: Spring 2027.
- Schedule: Approximately 10 to 20 hours per week.
- Pay: $18.40 per hour (subject to school internship policies).
- Eligibility: Open to undergraduate students.
