About the role#
The Capital Project Engineering Co-op supports the execution of strategic capital projects, focusing on new process technology, schedule management, cost control, and safety. This role provides direct field exposure to construction in industrial settings and offers insight into operational and engineering processes. This is a full-time, paid position for the Winter 2027 term, running from January 11, 2027, to April 23, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support the project manager with meeting management, daily field progress tracking, and leadership updates.
- Partner daily with field contractors to review Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs), participate in toolbox talks, and complete safety audits.
- Communicate with diverse personnel, including management, plant operators, engineers, tradespersons, and contractors.
- Gain exposure to applied process technologies, production, and reliability engineering functions.
- Participate in department meetings and project-specific design, schedule, and cost reviews.
- Adhere to company mission, guiding principles, and safety priorities.
What you'll need#
- Junior status or above by January 2027, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering.
- Minimum 2.75 GPA.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license for travel between sites.
- Ability to work in an industrial chemical and mining environment, including occasional outdoor work in varying temperatures.
- Physical ability to climb stairs, work at heights, lift up to 25 lbs, and wear a respirator.
- Basic computer skills and experience working in a team environment.
- Must be a student in good standing and authorized to work in the United States.
- Selected candidates must pass a drug and alcohol screening, background check, physical, and functional capacity examination.
Location & details#
- Location: FishHawk site in Lithia, Florida, with regular travel to other sites.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, typically 36-40 hours per week.
