About the role#
The Real Estate Financial Operations group handles the collection and reporting of property level financial results and financial statement consolidation for AIMCo. As a student in this group, you will contribute to these objectives by applying accounting principles and analyzing financial data. You will assist senior staff with the quarterly collection of property data from external managers and gain experience using the Yardi Voyager accounting system to review, validate, and reconcile investment records. This is a 4-month, full-time role.
What you'll do#
- Apply accounting principles and analyze accounting information.
- Perform bank and investment reconciliations alongside ad-hoc accounting functions.
- Support Accountants and Senior Accountants with processing investment management transactions in Yardi Voyager.
- Load and validate accounting trial balances within the Yardi Voyager system.
- Assist in the execution of projects under the direction of the Senior Manager, Foreign Real Estate Accounting.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Management, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of finance, accounting, and business concepts.
- Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail.
- Proficiency with MS Applications and the ability to adapt to new software.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A commitment to the core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity, and collaboration.
- Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience is an asset, as is knowledge of IFRS and Canadian GAAP (ASPE).
- Plans to enroll in a professional accounting designation program after graduation are considered an advantage.
