About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to work within Canadian Banking at Scotiabank. You will join a team focused on data-driven strategy and analysis. This is a full-time, paid position for the Winter 2027 term, running from January to April. You will work on-site in Toronto.
What you'll do#
- Identify data needs and manage the collection process.
- Gather business requirements to define problems, opportunities, and solutions.
- Follow analytical frameworks including hypothesis development, data preparation, validation, and recommendation development.
- Build and present data-driven business cases.
- Use SQL, Python, and Power BI to develop analytical models that support strategic initiatives.
- Create reports and presentations using Excel and PowerPoint.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary program, such as Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or Economics.
- Strong knowledge of analytical tools including SQL, Python, Power BI, and SAS.
- High level of competency with the MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to identify and articulate key insights and recommendations clearly.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Participation in extracurricular activities like conferences, clubs, or competitions.
- A desire to learn and work for an international organization.
