About the role#
The Junior Financial Analyst student will support reporting, analysis, expense management, and governance within the Canadian IT Financial Management team. This role offers hands-on experience with financial data, management reporting, and technology cost oversight. You will work across Finance, Technology, and various business units to analyze cost drivers and provide insights for decision making.
What you'll do#
- Identify tech cost savings through deep dive analysis.
- Partner with business and functional teams to find opportunities for process simplification.
- Support project and reporting activities by collecting data and creating presentations, using AI tools where applicable.
- Document business processes, procedures, and knowledge management resources.
- Prepare dashboards, reporting packages, and communications for leadership.
- Assist with governance activities for expense management, project investments, and technology spend oversight.
- Conduct research to support strategic business initiatives.
- Maintain shared repositories and team documentation libraries.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Sun Life Canada on cross-functional initiatives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiency.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Curiosity regarding tech costs and cost drivers.
- Desire to understand how large organizations operate.
- Demonstrated initiative, accountability, and ownership of your work.
- Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience with AI, data analysis, reporting, or process documentation is an asset.
