About the role#
Sun Life is seeking a Full Stack Developer to join the Database Inventory System team. This position is a paid, full-time internship for students required to complete a work placement as part of their degree. You will work on-site in Toronto, contributing to the development of scalable, high-availability software solutions in an Agile environment.
What you'll do#
- Design, implement, and optimize full stack solutions.
- Build out the Java development team and influence software engineering practices within the department.
- Migrate legacy code to a Java-based web language.
- Create and maintain technical and user documentation.
- Present progress updates to stakeholders on a monthly basis.
- Collaborate with other developers to provide scalable, low-latency solutions.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and open-source libraries.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a third-year student in Computer Science or a related degree program, with a requirement to complete a mandatory internship.
- Must be returning to studies following the internship.
- 3+ years of experience with ReactJS and strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Experience with Spring or similar Java frameworks.
- Experience with SQL Server databases and Java.
- Expertise in API development and integration, including RESTful and SOAP web services, JSON, and XML.
- Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux fundamentals, plus a working understanding of PowerShell.
- Experience with code versioning tools like Git or SVN.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
