About the role#
The Digital Solutions team is seeking a MarTech Software Engineer for a Winter 2027 co-op term. You will work with the MarTech development team to support the delivery of large-scale content management applications and marketing technology initiatives. This role involves collaboration across teams and requires a proactive approach to technical problem-solving.
What you'll do#
- Develop and deliver high-quality web applications that meet business needs.
- Contribute to project planning by defining timelines and analyzing feasibility, cost, and scope.
- Manage the full development lifecycle, including coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
- Support project implementations and system upgrades, which may occasionally require work outside of standard business hours.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a University Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, with an expected graduation date of April 2027 or later.
- Experience developing applications and an understanding of web applications and server technologies.
- Technical knowledge of MarTech platforms, specifically Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
- Proficiency with AEM CQ, JCR, Apache Sling, Apache Felix, OSGi, REST, Javascript, jQuery, Bootstrap, AJAX, JSON, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Experience with Java, J2EE, Unix/Linux, and web hosting technologies.
- Familiarity with open source frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, and Velocity, as well as DevOps tools like Jenkins, Artifactory, BitBucket, Maven, and Ansible.
- Experience with other content management systems like OpenText WEM or TeamSite is an asset.
- Ability to work independently and within multi-site teams, adapting to both Waterfall and agile delivery styles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong focus on customer needs.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Waterloo, Ontario.
- The role is full-time and operates on a hybrid basis.
- Occasional travel between Sun Life locations, such as Toronto and Waterloo, may be required.
