About the role#
Aquatic Capital Management is looking for a Software Engineering Intern to join our technology team for the Summer 2027 term. You will work alongside engineers and quants to build distributed systems that support our trading and research infrastructure. This is a hands-on role where your contributions directly affect live systems and research workflows.
What you'll do#
- Build high-performance, distributed systems for research and trading.
- Design internal tools to support team workflows.
- Improve system reliability across the platform.
- Optimize systems for low-latency and high-throughput data processing.
- Learn and apply software design and testing techniques, including refactoring and test driven development.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in mathematics, statistics, machine learning, physics, computer science, or a related scientific field.
- Your expected graduation date is between Fall 2027 and Summer 2028.
- You have solid programming skills in Python or C++.
- You possess a strong understanding of algorithms, systems, and computer architecture.
- You have a natural curiosity about how things work and a desire to build better systems.
- You are comfortable working in a collaborative team setting and providing or receiving actionable feedback.

- This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Chicago, Illinois.
