About the role#
The Actuarial Internship at Sun Life supports students interested in the actuarial profession. You will work within a professional team to build technical skills and gain an understanding of insurance products, contracts, and business concepts. This program provides an environment that supports your progress toward passing actuarial exams.
What you'll do#
- Build technical skills and learn core insurance concepts.
- Use technology-based tools to perform analysis and solve problems.
- Complete real entry-level actuarial projects to provide meaningful contributions to your team.
- Gain an understanding of product features and contracts.
- Give a final presentation on your summer experience to managers and peers.
- Participate in networking sessions, lunch-and-learns, and social activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program.
- Preferred fields of study include Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Data Science, or Computer Science.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- Demonstrated commitment to the actuarial profession.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills.
- Ability to translate complex, abstract concepts and theory.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Prior actuarial internship experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Excel, VBA, and programming is preferred.

- Modality: Hybrid.
- Locations: Wellesley, Massachusetts; Hartford, Connecticut; Kansas City, Missouri; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; or Portland, Maine.
- This is a paid internship position.
