About the role#
This four month, full-time term offers exposure to Treasury and Payments operations within a major investment manager. You will work on cash forecasting, liquidity management, and banking oversight. The role focuses on developing your critical thinking and attention to detail while you learn from professionals in the finance industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist with portfolio cash management, asset class cash forecasting, and portfolio closures.
- Support the Payments group with bank account setups, market trading establishment, wire initiations, and counterparty verifications.
- Create and maintain counterparty banking instructions within primary portfolio management systems.
- Establish and maintain processes for internal and external account setups.
- Conduct regular reviews of user banking access.
- Coordinate with teams to improve processes, recommend efficiencies, and develop new procedures.
- Organize and track monthly tasks to meet deadlines.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a co-op or equivalent work experience program.
- Completion of second or third-year undergraduate studies in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- A beginner understanding of financial instruments and capital markets, including stocks, bonds, derivatives, and structured products.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to identify pertinent information.
- Ability to work independently and solve problems using critical thinking.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
- A commitment to AIMCo core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity, and collaboration.
- Knowledge of VBA to automate tasks and experience using AI tools like Claude for technical tasks are considered assets.
