About the role#
The Estimating Intern reports to the Estimating Manager. You will assist in delivering accurate cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for assigned construction projects. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Search and gather historical estimate data to help develop benchmarking information.
- Analyze project documents, specifications, proposals, and addendums to prepare for pricing.
- Support the team by performing quantity take-offs from construction drawings.
- Research and obtain pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist with RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and general contract tender submissions.
- Help create estimates for bid submissions, including labor, materials, equipment, rentals, and subcontracts.
- Maintain project files and correspondence while ensuring accurate documentation.
- Collect data for key performance indicator reports and provide technical support to field staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a Civil, Construction, Electrical Engineering, or Business diploma or degree program.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and contract documents.
- Strong computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Project, and estimating software.
- Knowledge of contract language, terms and conditions, and bonding is an asset.
- Understanding of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting principles is an asset.
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
