Co-op, Project Technician

About the role#

Aecon Utilities is seeking a Project Technician Co-op to support the design and delivery of infrastructure projects. Working within the Aecon Utility Engineer (AUE) team, you will assist in producing permit-ready packages, construction sets, and as-builts. This is a 12-month, full-time, paid co-op position starting in September 2026.

What you'll do#

• Assist with design calculations and drawings under guidance, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.
• Support the preparation of project schedules, estimates, and construction packages.
• Participate in site visits and surveys to gather project data.
• Help prepare status reports for ongoing and completed design projects.
• Contribute to technical reports for clients and project teams.
• Learn and utilize design software tools such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Collaborate with clients, contractors, and field staff as part of the project team.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in an Electrical, Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering program or equivalent.
• Strong interest in utility design and construction projects.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and basic design software (MicroStation or 3D tools are an asset).
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to travel for site visits as required.

• Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Term: Fall 2026 (12 months).
• Compensation: $22 - $25 per hour.
