Co-op, Assistant Coordinator, EHS

About the role#

Aecon Group Inc. is seeking an Assistant Coordinator for the EHS team to provide operational support and assist with safety program maintenance. This is a paid, full-time co-op position based on-site in Toronto, ON. The role involves supporting EHS personnel with field operations, documentation, and safety coordination across construction projects.

What you'll do#

• Provide operational support and resources to the EHS team.
• Assist with the input, completion, and tracking of project accident and incident reports.
• Coordinate and deliver site employee safety meetings.
• Conduct field-level walk downs and site inspections alongside EHS personnel.
• Manage the distribution of PPE supplies as needed.
• Maintain safety documentation for auditing purposes and assist with site orientation administrative tasks.
• Provide regular feedback to the Safety Manager regarding inspection status and program improvements.
• Assist with the startup of new work areas by providing necessary reporting templates and documentation.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a university or college program in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, Health Administration, Public Health, Nursing, Biology, or a related field.
• Previous experience in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of construction site safety requirements and provincial legislation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• A valid G driver's license.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with minimal direction.
• Ability to obtain OPG Security Clearance.

• Location: Toronto, ON, Canada.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: $23 - $28 per hour.
• Term: Rolling (8, 12, or 16-month durations available).
