Co-op Student, Engineering

About the role#

Aecon is seeking Co-op students to join the Civil West division for on-site engineering roles. These positions provide hands-on experience in heavy civil construction, offering exposure to project management, resource allocation, scheduling, and cost control. Students will work directly on active projects, supporting daily operations and technical requirements.

What you'll do#

• Conduct site audits and analysis, producing daily, weekly, and monthly reports for project stakeholders.
• Assist Field Engineers and Superintendents with day-to-day site management and administrative tasks.
• Perform quantity tracking, productivity analysis, and quantity take-offs from construction drawings.
• Provide technical support to field staff, craft workers, and subcontractors.
• Assist in the preparation of detailed construction and design estimates.
• Monitor project progress, contribute to job cost reports, and assist with month-end reconciliation.
• Maintain project files and correspondence while liaising with clients and internal departments.
• Gather field information to assist in the preparation of project bills of materials.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in a university or technical college diploma program in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, or Architecture.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
• A valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Ability to adapt to flexible work schedules, including day and night shifts as required.
• Prior experience in the construction industry is considered a strong asset.
• Beginner knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Bluebeam is considered an asset.

Location & details#

• Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: $23.00 – $25.00 per hour.
