About the role#
This is a 12-month co-op position based in Scarborough. You will report to the Project Manager and assist with coordination and administrative tasks for underground utility construction projects. This role is intended for students seeking hands-on experience in construction management, engineering, or project coordination.
What you'll do#
- Support the Project Manager with daily project coordination and on-site activities.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain project documentation throughout the lifecycle.
- Assist with project start-up tasks, including setting up folders, templates, and required documentation.
- Manage project files and records on shared servers and document control systems.
- Track and log documentation such as RFIs, reports, and general correspondence.
- Support the preparation and tracking of change notices and change orders.
- Distribute updated information and ensure drawing and report folders remain current.
- Coordinate with field crews, subcontractors, inspectors, and utility owners.
- Schedule and attend project meetings, and prepare meeting minutes.
- Track and summarize site hours to align with reporting requirements.
- Assist with cost tracking, job costing, and monthly reporting.
- Ensure all work complies with company policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a technical diploma or engineering degree program, specifically in Civil, Electrical, Construction, or a related field.
- An interest in the civil or electrical utility sector.
- A basic understanding of project coordination concepts, including scheduling, documentation control, and change management.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Comfort working in both office and field or site environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and MS Project.
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to work independently.
- Experience with Hard Dollar or SAP is considered an asset.
