About the role#
This internship supports the risk analysis team within the wildfire program at Xcel Energy. You will focus on wildfire metrics, specifically how system construction and work completion affect fire mitigation and resiliency. This role begins May 31, 2027, and offers the potential for an extension based on performance and business needs.
What you'll do#
- Organize quantitative and qualitative wildfire data sets to assist with system and activity analysis.
- Prepare and format information for reports.
- Provide external assessments of data gathered regarding utilities and wildfires.
- Monetize wildfire information.
- Engage in wildfire problem-solving tasks.
What you'll need#
- Must be a student, freshman or higher as of Fall 2027, enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in an engineering field, data management, or data integration.
- At least one year of college completed.
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Intermediate computer skills and basic experience with AI tools.
- Analytical experience, a willingness to take the initiative, and the ability to follow instructions.
Location & details#
- Position is based in Denver, Colorado.
- This is a full-time summer internship, up to 40 hours per week.
- The role follows a hybrid work model and requires the ability to commute to the office in-person.
- This is a paid position.
