About the role#
This is a paid internship focused on supporting Energy Supply Base Capital Engineering projects. You will work at one of our coal-fired or refuse-derived fuel generating plants in Minnesota or Wisconsin. The role provides practical experience in engineering project management and offers opportunities to collaborate with internal stakeholders and present to senior leadership. This is a full-time position for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist project engineers with the management and execution of plant projects.
- Learn how power plants generate electricity and study the systems that support major equipment.
- Read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams, electrical schematics, and general plant drawings.
- Use software systems for project planning and budgeting.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore or higher at an ABET accredited college or university.
- Pursuit of a degree in electrical, mechanical, civil, or chemical engineering or a related program.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate coursework, including engineering classes.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Prior experience in an engineering internship.
- Ability to commute to one of the designated plant locations.
