About the role#
This internship supports Energy Supply Base Capital Engineering Projects at our combined cycle generating plants in Minnesota. You will work alongside engineering, operations, and plant management teams to identify and execute capital projects. This role provides hands-on experience in project management and power plant operations, with the potential to extend beyond the initial summer term based on performance and business needs.
What you'll do#
- Assist project engineers with the management and execution of capital projects.
- Learn how power plants generate electricity and understand the systems that support major plant equipment.
- Interpret technical documentation, including piping and instrumentation diagrams, electrical schematics, and general plant drawings.
- Gain experience using project planning and budgeting software.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior or higher in an ABET accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in electrical, mechanical, civil, or chemical engineering.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer and part-time during the school year.
- Reliable transportation to travel between plant locations in the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro area.
- A 3.0 GPA or higher is preferred.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate coursework, including thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, is preferred.
- Previous engineering internship experience is preferred.

- Pay: $23.10 to $24.60 per hour.
