About the role#
The Integrated Plan Delivery team works within Integrated System Planning to create tools and processes for planning across electrical distribution, transmission, energy supply, and natural gas networks. We are looking for interns to join our team for the summer of 2027. One intern will focus on economic transmission analysis, while others will contribute to the team's broader planning mandate. This is a paid, full-time position with the possibility of extending beyond the summer term based on performance and business needs.
What you'll do#
- Participate in our intern development program.
- Learn about the planning processes used at Xcel Energy.
- Collect and prepare data for various studies.
- Perform studies as appropriate for your assigned projects.
- Write reports on study findings and underlying assumptions.
What you'll need#
- You are a current student at the Junior level or higher.
- You are enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university.
- You are pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Economics, or Engineering Physics.
- You can work full-time during the summer and transition to part-time during the school year.
- You are able to commute to the office in-person.
- Preferred: An Electrical Engineering major with coursework in circuits, power systems, engineering economics, or energy policy.
- Preferred: A curious and creative mindset.

- Compensation: $23.10 to $24.60 per hour.
