About the role#
The Office of the General Counsel at Starr is seeking a law student for a summer internship in New York City. This role provides exposure to risk management, the commercial insurance industry, and the corporate legal environment. You will work under the supervision of our legal team, receiving feedback and guidance throughout the summer. This position is part of a 9-week program that includes professional development workshops focused on presentation, networking, and communication skills.
What you'll do#
- Conduct legal research and analyze case law.
- Draft legal documents such as contracts, memos, and board resolutions.
- Prepare legal memoranda.
- Collaborate on projects across Compliance, Corporate Governance, Insurance Regulatory, and Contract law.
- Assist attorneys with daily tasks.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
- Present a final Capstone project that captures your key takeaways and skills learned during the program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABA accredited law school program.
- Demonstrated academic success at the undergraduate level.
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
- Familiarity with legal research tools and databases.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

- Location: 399 Park Avenue, New York, NY.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June to August).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $30 to $32 per hour.
